Building an offense with remaining NFL free agents

Tight end – Jared Cook

I was going to put Rob Gronkowski here, but I actually like Jared Cook a bit better at this point in their careers.

Jared Cook keeps producing.  He has at least 500 receiving yards in each of his last five seasons and caught nine touchdowns back in 2019.

In 2021 with the Chargers, Cook had 564 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

He’s simply a massive threat, partly because of his insane, 6’5″ side, but also because of his incredibly long legs and overall athleticism.

His 4.49 40 yard dash time back in 2009 is a great indicator of how athletic he is.

Sometimes, he simply out-mans opposing defenses.  He’s also missed just five games in the last five seasons, so he stays on the field.

Cook is entering his age-35 season, but there is no one thing indicating that he’s slowed down. A team looking to add another quality piece on offense would be smart to sign Jared Cook.

He doesn’t have to be the featured TE1, but he can be the best TE2 in the NFL.
