NFL CB duo no. 2: Cleveland Browns – Denzel Ward, Greg Newsome

The Cleveland Browns have to be absolutely thrilled about their cornerback duo right now.

Denzel Ward has been an exceptional pick for this team, even after a lot of questions about whether he was the right pick at the time over former NC State pass rusher Bradley Chubb.

This offseason, the Browns proved they made the right choice by giving Ward a five-year contract worth more than $100 million.

In four NFL seasons, Ward has 10 interceptions and 50 passes broken up, but more than just statistical production, he has proven himself more than worthy of potential overall CB1 status across the NFL.

Ward is simply too fast, too athletic, too instinctive, and too technically sound to be beaten on a consistent basis.

Quarterbacks don’t want to throw his way, so they tested rookie Greg Newsome II in his rookie season out of Northwestern.

That didn’t go a lot better.

Newsome had nine passes broken up in his rookie year for the Browns, playing in 12 games.

If the Browns can get a fully healthy year out of these two players, they might end up taking over the number one spot as the best and most dominant cornerback duo in the game today.

Both of these guys are fast, explosive, and they know how to make plays on the ball.

Expect a lot more turnovers created by the Browns defense because of these two guys in 2022.
