3 free agents the Cincinnati Bengals could still pursue
Cincinnati Bengals potential FA no. 2: T Mike Remmers (Kansas City Chiefs)
Back to that aforementioned offensive line. Second-year quarterback Joe Burrow saw his rookie campaign limited to the first 10 games after suffering a knee injury at Washington. But he rebounded in a big way this season.
He started the club’s first 16 games. He connected on a league-best 70.4 percent of his passes. He threw for 4,611 yards and more than twice as many touchdown passes (34) as interceptions (14). But he was also sacked a disappointing 51 times in those contests.
During Cincinnati’s four-game playoff run, Burrow took even more punishment. He was dropped a combined 19 times in those tilts. Nine of those came in the club’s win at Tennessee – tying an NFL postseason record. And seven of those QB traps came via the Rams at SoFi Stadium on Super Sunday.
This offseason, the Bengals signed tackle La’el Collins (Cowboys), versatile Ted Karras (from Patriots), and guard Alex Cappa (from Buccaneers) to bolster the interior and the right side of the line.
Mike Remmers’ nine-year career has seen him play for five different franchises. He’s started at both tackle spots and at guard as well. He was hampered by a knee injury in 2021 and was limited to four games but could be an excellent pickup for depth.
