10 NFL records that are likely to fall in 2022

NFL record likely to fall No. 3: Most Touchdowns
Current record: 31 — LaDainian Tomlinson, 2006
From 2001 through 2009, LaDainian Tomlinson was one of the most dominant runners in the entire NFL. A former first-round pick out of TCU, he played those first nine years with the San Diego Chargers and was phenomenal.
Tomlinson topped 1,100-yards in each of those seasons, finishing with 12,490 in that time frame. He was also a monster in the passing game and back in 2003, he had 1,645 yards on the ground as well as 100 receptions for 725 yards.
Simply put, he was a machine — and no one could stop him. Even his first season with the New York Jets — after leaving San Diego — was impressive as the 31-year-old had 914 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. He hardly made an impact in 2011 as a runner but still had 449 yards on 42 catches.
But the best season for the Hall of Famer came in 2006 when he ran for 1,815 yards and 28 touchdowns while adding another 56 receptions for 508 yards and three scores. That gave him the league record of 31 total touchdowns in a single season.
That’s not going to be an easy record to break but there are some guys who could threaten it. Derrick Henry is someone to watch, as is Johnathan Taylor since they’re the best running backs in the game.
An outside-the-box option is Najee Harris, who is great on the ground and as a receiver, and will be heavily relied upon whether the Steelers start Mitchell Trubisky or Kenny Pickett.
Players most likely to break the record: Derrick Henry, Jonathan Taylor, Najee Harris
