5 Breakout star candidates for the 2022 NFL season

No. 4 NFL Breakout Star: Dallas Goedert – TE, Philadelphia Eagles

It seems like he’s been in the league forever. Dallas Goedert is only entering his 5th season and the first one as the unquestioned TE1 for Philly. He is primed for a big breakout in 2022.

Last season was the first time he started more than nine games, his first within Nick Sirianni’s offense and the numbers were favorable – 56 catches for 860 yards. It wasn’t a bad season, but not what many were expecting either. Especially considering his five drops.

The addition of AJ Brown may take away some deeper targets from Goedert, but from a sheer coaching perspective, the tight end is a consistent “outlet” to pressure in this offense.

That tells me regardless of the roster around him Dallas Goedert’s role in the offense is secure.

Adding a wide receiver outside opposite Devonta Smith will also mean the safeties will need to be more hesitant coming into the box.

Dallas Goedert is a top option as an attached Y on the line of scrimmage. It will be easy for him to shake linebackers and slip out into his patterns.

This is a pretty good breakdown of how the Eagles can get him the ball.

The bottom line is this offense is ready to take the next step. Coach Sirianni is a fantastic offensive mind, there are plenty of weapons to utilize and Goedert is going to play a key role in that offense.

If you are a fantasy player and looking for a tight end, you could do much worse.
