Detroit Lions: Obinna Eze, OT, TCU

Entering the 2022 season, the Detroit Lions have two solid starting tackles. On the left side is Taylor Decker, who has developed into a trusted veteran. On the right, there’s Penei Sewell, who was great as a rookie and could end up being the leader of the entire unit.

Behind them, however, the Lions don’t have a ton of depth. Their top candidates for swing tackle are Matt Nelson — an undrafted free agent from 2019 — who has spent his whole career as a backup in Detroit and Dan Skipper — an undrafted free agent from 2017 who started with the Dallas Cowboys and is on his third stint with the Lions.

Skipper has bounced around the league, spending time with Denver, New England, and Las Vegas in addition to Dallas and Detroit. He’s also a massive player at 6-foot-9 and 330-pounds but has yet to prove he can be a reliable option.

That’s why Obinna Eze from TCU has a real shot at making this roster. Eze measured in at just over 6-foot-6 and was 321-pounds. He also has incredibly long arms but is still considered a project player.

Detroit could see enough in him to decide to keep him around since his potential is considerably higher than what Skipper offers.
