NFL 2022: Biggest contract bargain at every position
Biggest NFL contract bargain at wide receiver: Cooper Kupp, Los Angeles Rams
Average annual salary: $15.75 million (19th in NFL among WRs)
How is Cooper Kupp making less than $16 million per season?
Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams reset the wide receiver market in the 2022 offseason and understandably so.
Hill demanded $30 million per year and he got it from the Miami Dolphins after the Kansas City Chiefs decided to trade him.
In a similar way, Davante Adams got a massive deal from the Las Vegas Raiders at $28 million per season this offseason after being traded by the Green Bay Packers.
Kupp has been one of the most valuable offensive players in all of the NFL over the last couple of seasons but his value skyrocketed in 2021 when the Rams acquired Matthew Stafford as their new quarterback.
Last year’s offensive player of the year and Super Bowl MVP racked up — in the regular season and in the playoffs:
- 178 receptions
- 22 receiving touchdowns
- 2,425 receiving yards
- 14 yards per reception
Cooper Kupp is absolutely dominant but as far as veteran contracts at the wide receiver position go, he’s in the middle of the pack.
You’ve got to — once gain — tip your cap to Les Snead.
