Biggest NFL contract bargain on the defensive line: Shelby Harris, Seattle Seahawks

Average annual salary: $9 million per year (17th among DL)

player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Seattle Seahawks. DL. 36. NFC West. Shelby Harris

Over the last handful of years, Shelby Harris has been one of the most valuable players on a middle-of-the-road (or worse) Denver Broncos team.

He’s been a consistent source of productivity for them, whether we’re talking about rushing the passer, playing the run, making big plays on special teams, batting down passes at the line of scrimmage, or even picking them off to close out games.

Just ask Ben Roethlisberger about that one.

Harris became known among his Denver Broncos teammates as having the “best hands” in the league because of the rate at which he could bat the ball down at the line or block field goals.

It was truly remarkable to witness.

After signing an inexplicably low one-year deal in 2020 to return to the Broncos, Harris signed a three-year deal in 2021 worth just $9 million per season.

Although that still puts him in the top 20 among defensive linemen in the NFL, it’s a bargain due to Harris’ rate of productivity.

He’s now a member of the Seattle Seahawks after the Russell Wilson blockbuster trade this offseason and he’ll undoubtedly give that Seattle defense a big boost.
