A questionable top-10 list of coaches heading into the 2022 NFL season recently made the rounds on social media, so we try and get things more accurate

A top-10 list of coaches heading into the 2022 NFL season recently made the rounds on social media, and it had people asking a lot of questions.

The list was created by PFF and while they generally do some great work, this one had a few head-scratchers — such as Kliff Kingsbury cracking the top-5 and Mike McCarthy landing in the top 10.

Here, we will try and see if we can get a slightly more accurate listing of the top-10 coaches in the NFL.

2022 NFL Top Head Coaching List No. 10: Frank Reich, Indianapolis Colts

The PFF list had Mike McCarthy coming in at No. 10, which was a bit of a surprise. Heck, there was even a crack from our own Sayre Bedinger that McCarthy barely made the top-3 on his own team — and in all honesty, with Dan Quinn and Kellen Moore on the staff, he’s probably right.

With that being said, we start with Frank Reich at No. 10 on this list. A former assistant with the Eagles, Reich is 37-28 in four seasons and has twice led his team to double-digit wins. What’s made that more impressive is his revolving door at quarterback.

Despite the constant change, the Colts continue to play hard and compete. That’s why Reich deserves to be on this list.

2022 NFL Top Head Coaching List No. 9: John Harbaugh, Baltimore Ravens

John Harbaugh could arguably be even higher on this list since he’s been such a steadying force for the Baltimore Ravens for so many years. However, he made a few blunders in 2021 including going for two points a couple of times when he could have forced overtime with a kick.

The Ravens also finished on a six-game losing streak in 2021. That hurts his standings in the 2022 rankings, but he will climb back up — because he’s just that good.
