2022 NFL Top Head Coaching List No. 2: Andy Reid, Kansas City Chiefs

Following the 2019 season and at age 61, Andy Reid finally won his first Super Bowl. With Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback, Reid led the Chiefs to the title and they have continued to threaten since then, even making it back to the big game the following season, but falling short to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In 23 years as a head coach, Reid is 233-135-1 and is on an impressive streak right now that includes seven seasons in a row with double-digit wins. In nine seasons with the Chiefs, he’s 103-42 and has had at least 10 wins in every year except one — which was when he went 9-7 in 2014.

Reid continues to be one of the brightest minds in the game and has an impressive coaching tree, which is another sign of a coach’s greatness.

2022 NFL Top Head Coaching List No. 1: Sean McVay, Los Angeles Rams

The aforementioned PFF list had two major snubs. One was Mike Tomlin, who came in at No. 5 here, and the other was Sean McVay who is the No. 1 coach heading into the 2022 NFL Season on our list.

McVay was just 31 years of age when the Los Angeles Rams hired him and he’s done nothing but win for them. He’s won 68 percent of his games and has a 55-26 overall record with two Super Bowl appearances in his five seasons — including this past season when they did win the trophy.

At just 36-years of age, McVay has already started to form his own coaching tree, which includes Zac Taylor, who coaches the Cincinnati Bengals and lost to McVay and the Rams in the Super Bowl.

His performance even led to teams re-thinking the way they hire coaches. Gone are the days of hiring experienced coaches as teams are now looking for the next young coach to do what McVay has done in Los Angeles.
