DK Metcalf trade option No. 2: Los Angeles Chargers

At the moment, the Los Angeles Chargers don’t have a ton of cap space with just over $14 million. That means it wouldn’t be as easy for them to land DK Metcalf and give him a massive extension, but it also wouldn’t be impossible.

It could also make a lot of sense for the Chargers to go after the big wideout. L.A. already has two great options at receiver with Mike Williams — who just signed a massive extension this offseason — and Keenan Allen.

However, Allen is a stud in the slot, and putting Williams and Metcalf together on the outside would give them arguably the best passing game in the NFL. Throw in the fact that Justin Herbert is the one distributing the ball and this could really work out.

On top of that, the Chargers have a couple more years with Herbert on his rookie deal. That means they can afford to go all-in with the skill players and try to overtake the Chiefs in the AFC West, then go after a title in the next couple of years.

It would be a bold move for sure, but the Chargers have seen their roommates — the Los Angeles Rams — rewarded for their boldness. Perhaps the Bolts can take a page from their playbook and swing for the fences.
