2021 NFL playoff team that will miss out in 2022: Tennessee Titans

35. Scouting Report. . . Tennessee Titans. player. Pick Analysis. 1

The Titans’ three-year run with Ryan Tannehill might come to an end in 2022.

After the Tennessee Titans got shut out by the Denver Broncos early in the 2019 season, they benched Marcus Mariota in favor of Ryan Tannehill.

Since then, the Titans have been one of the very best teams in the NFL, and that held true in 2021.

Somehow, the massively injured Titans went 12-5 in 2021, securing the first seed in the AFC and earning the lone by the week.

However, they were one and done, as the Bengals came into Nissan Stadium and upset the Titans.

The Titans’ 2022 offseason wasn’t exactly keeping up with other teams in the AFC, either.

Their biggest move was trading their best player, AJ Brown, to the Eagles.  They used the first-round pick they got back to draft Treylon Burks, who compares well to AJ Brown.

However, outside of Tannehill, who wasn’t putting up big numbers last year, and Derrick Henry, who had a notable injury last year, the Titans don’t exactly feel like an imposing team anymore.

Now, we should give credit where credit is due.  They are 30-13 in the 43 games Tannehill has started, and he’s thrown 76 touchdown passes on just 27 interceptions since taking over in 2019, but I think their three-year run is running out.

Their defense is missing a difference-maker at EDGE, and their offense, outside of Derrick Henry, isn’t scaring anyone.

In a recent article, I did pick the Titans to make the playoffs in 2022, but the Indianapolis Colts can easily jump them as well.

Ultimately, if Ryan Tannehill can’t return to his 2019 or 2020 form, the Titans will be sitting at home in January.
