No. 10 and 9 seeds in the NFC for the 2022 NFL season

No. 10 – New Orleans Saints

The New Orleans Saints are an interesting team to follow.  They always seem to be in salary cap hell, but somehow manage to field a talented club.

However, there’s a big change this season, as Sean Payton effectively resigned, so for the first time in over 15 years, the Saints will be coached by someone who isn’t Sean Payton.  Dennis Allen, their longtime defensive coordinator, takes over as HC.

The team seemed to commit to Jameis Winston, giving him a two year contract and taking Chris Olave in the first round of the NFL Draft.

I’m just not sure what to make of the Saints, though.  It seems like they could be a solid, Wild Card team, but Winston is the biggest X factor, and he hasn’t really shown that he can be a franchise QB in the NFL.

No. 9 – Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys can’t seem to figure themselves out.  They always have talented players, but can never seem to put something together long-term.

They were in a bit of a cap crunch this offseason, failing to re-sign La’el Collins, Randy Gregory, and trading Amari Cooper for next to nothing.

The Cowboys did get worse on paper, but they’re still a solid team.  I like what their division rivals did a bit more, though.  Plus, when you consider the inconsistencies of the Cowboys and the NFC East overall, I don’t think it would shock anyone to see Dallas fall to the 9th spot in the NFC at the end of the season.
