No. 6 and 5 NFC teams for the 2022 NFL season

No. 6 – Washington Commanders

I am jumping on the Commanders’ bandwagon this year.  They’ve got the easiest schedule in the NFL, a complete roster, and a competent quarterback.  I disagree with the Colts’ decision to replace Carson Wentz with Matt Ryan, but that’s just my opinion.

Wentz is a clear upgrade from Taylor Heinicke, so they’ll have a stronger offensive output this year.  Their defense wasn’t as good as we thought it would be, but I think a stronger offense that can extend drives will help the defense out a ton.

Terry McLaurin, Curtis Samuel, and Jahan Dotson make for a very solid WR group, and JD McKissic and Antonio Gibson are a lethal RB duo.

I think the Commanders end up winning 10 games and earning a Wild Card spot this year.

No. 5 – San Francisco 49ers

I think even with Trey Lance or Jimmy Garoppolo taking snaps for the 49ers in 2022, they will finish as one of the top seeds.

The overall weakness of the NFC helps this, as the 49ers are not the most talented team in the NFL, but they are well-coached.

Kyle Shanahan nearly got two Super Bowl appearances out of Jimmy G, so I have no doubt he’ll be able to mold Trey Lance into something serviceable in his first year starting.

A well-coached team with good players is going to do well in the NFL.  That’s what the 49ers have.
