The Pittsburgh Steelers are breaking in a new quarterback for the first time since the 2004 season when they drafted Ben Roethlisberger.

To vastly understate the last 18 years, it’s been a good run.

The Mitchell Trubisky/Kenny Pickett era is now officially upon us and those quarterbacks are stepping into a rather favorable situation.

Najee Harris leads a star-studded group of offensive skill players for the Steelers which, for the time being, includes:

  • Diontae Johnson
  • Chase Claypool
  • Pat Freiermuth
  • George Pickens

The Steelers are always loading up with skill position talent and they have upgraded their offensive line in the 2022 offseason with the acquisition of James Daniels on the interior as well as the emergence last year of fourth-round pick Dan Moore Jr.

Defensively, the Steelers certainly deserve recognition as being one of the top units in the NFL, but they have a question mark at the cornerback position.

TJ Watt is one of the best defensive players in the game today.

Alex Highsmith is poised for a breakthrough year in 2022.

Devin Bush and Myles Jack are a strong duo of off-ball linebackers and Minkah Fitzpatrick is one of the best all-around safeties in the NFL.

Ahkello Witherspoon turned out to be a good pickup for the Steelers last year and they added Levi Wallace this offseason, but ultimately, the secondary leaves a bit to be desired.

Given the team’s quarterback situation, a solid roster with some outstanding individual pieces gets bumped down a bit. on the rung of overall NFL rosters.
