The San Francisco 49ers are going to be transitioning into the Trey Lance era at the QB position, something that will be absolutely fascinating to watch in 2022.
What we have been able to see with the 49ers the last few years is that this roster is extremely good. They have been to the NFC Championship game twice in the last three seasons with Jimmy Garoppolo as the starting quarterback.
With all due respect to Garoppolo, that truly speaks volumes to this roster’s construction and how good of a coach Kyle Shanahan is, not to mention how good of a staff he’s put together through the years.
The 49ers are one of the league’s best teams at developing and maximizing talent.
They have some of the best offensive pieces in the NFL:
- Deebo Samuel, WR
- Trent Williams, OT
- George Kittle, TE
Those three players are truly superstars at their respective positions and they merely represent the core of one side of the ball for this team.
Defensively, the 49ers have so much elite-level talent.
- Nick Bosa, EDGE
- Arik Armstead, DL
- Fred Warner, LB
All of the players listed above are some of the best at their respective position groups in the entire NFL.
That kind of star power has been almost entirely home-grown by the 49ers, who also brought in some key pieces in the 2022 offseason like free agent cornerback Charvarius Ward, rookie pass rusher Drake Jackson, and sleeper rookies on offense like Danny Gray and Tyrion Davis-Price.
If Trey Lance can play well as a rookie, this team is once again poised for huge success.
