NFL roster no. 6: Cincinnati Bengals

team. 56. . . . Cincinnati Bengals. 6

The job the Cincinnati Bengals have done revamping this roster in recent years has been nothing short of remarkable.

Of course, it helps to pick high in the draft for a long period of time, including first overall in a year where Joe Burrow is coming out.

Some luck is involved, but the Bengals have also had to make some tough calls that have paid off, including the choice in the 2021 NFL Draft to take wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase over Penei Sewell, an unpopular decision for many at the time.

Joe Burrow has one of the best trios of wide receivers in the NFL to throw the ball to in Chase, Tee Higgins, and Tyler Boyd.

He’s got one of the best running backs in the league behind him in Joe Mixon.

No team transformed its offensive line more in 2022 than the Bengals, who added new starters at three positions to keep Burrow upright and protected, something that has been a problem through his first two years in the NFL.

Defensively, the Bengals have progressed exceptionally over the last few seasons.

The acquisition of Trey Hendrickson off the edge was a gift from the football gods for this team, and in combination with the likes of DJ Reader, Sam Hubbard, and BJ Hill, the Bengals have a versatile and formidable defensive front.

The linebacker play in Cincinnati is outstanding as well from Logan Wilson and Germaine Pratt.

The secondary has received a necessary infusion of young talent this offseason with Dax Hill coming in as the team’s first-round pick and Cam Taylor-Britt as the team’s second-rounder.

Those two will play plenty early on and help round out a phenomenal roster.
