Ranking all 32 NFL rosters from worst to best for 2022
NFL roster no. 24: New England Patriots
The New England Patriots certainly have a fascinating roster and will be well-coached as always.
Bill Belichick probably doesn’t “need” Josh McDaniels, even though the only other time he didn’t have McDaniels he still had Tom Brady.
Now, we’ve entered into uncharted waters. Belichick no longer has Brady or McDaniels.
Mac Jones was stellar as a rookie but his development hangs in the balance as the Patriots don’t have a set offensive coordinator, at least not that we know of.
Maybe it will be Belichick himself…
The roster is just okay on both sides of the ball. The Patriots lack star power offensively, but they can be a very strong sum of their parts.
Kendrick Bourne, Tyquan Thornton, DeVante Parker, and Nelson Agholor are not exactly the most terrifying group of receivers in the league.
You love the Pats’ tight end room with Hunter Henry and Jonnu Smith, arguably the best (and certainly the most expensive) tight end duo in the league.
The Patriots’ offensive line is solid and the interior got even stronger this year with first-round pick Cole Strange coming in.
The Patriots’ defense doesn’t have a ton of young superstar players. It’s a veteran-laden group and a bunch of guys who know how Bill Belichick likes things done.
There’s value in that, just not in terms of ranking overall rosters in the NFL.
There are a lot of good and promising rosters in the league, but the Patriots’ roster appears to be one on the downswing instead of already loaded and getting better.
