Dallas Cowboys potential cut No. 1: James Washington, WR

Another position that has seen a lot of change this offseason for Dallas is wide receiver. Amari Cooper was shipped off to the Cleveland Browns as a salary dump and Cedrick Wilson signed with the Miami Dolphins.

With those two out, Dallas will be relying more on CeeDee Lamb and Michael Gallup — who just signed a pretty hefty extension. They also signed James Washington from the Pittsburgh Steelers, who could be a solid No. 3 option. He could also find himself struggling for a role in Dallas.

As good as Washington can be, he has yet to prove he’s a consistent weapon in the NFL. He also has more competition now since the Cowboys landed Jalen Tolbert in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

Tolbert was one of the steals of the draft and it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see him take Washington’s spot — and a foot injury recently suffered by Washington could help the rookie make up ground.

Behind them, there’s Simi Fehoko who was added in Round 5 last season. Fehoko is a big target with plenty of speed and while he did very little as a rookie, it’s been said the Cowboys are high on his potential.

Throw in Noah Brown who continues to impress the coaching staff as well as a talented former undrafted free agent in T.J. Vasher and Washington could be in trouble.
