Chicago Bears free agent no. 2: WR T.Y. Hilton (Indianapolis Colts)

Darnell Mooney had a strong year for the team this past season. In his second season, he led the club with 81 catches and 1,055 receiving yards.

His four touchdown grabs was also tops for the Bears, who only scored through the air 16 times in 17 contests. The club’s next leading pass-catcher from the wide receiver position was veteran Allen Robinson, who in 12 games ranked fourth on the squad with 38 receptions but only one for a score.

Of course, the latter is now a member of the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams via free agency. This offseason, general manager Ryan Poles added the likes of Byron Pringle, Equanimeous St. Brown, David Moore, Tajae Sharpe and Dante Pettis.

There is a notable veteran still on the open market that new head coach Matt Eberflus is quite familiar with. Four-time Pro Bowler T.Y. Hilton has battled injuries in recent seasons – playing in only 10 regular-season games in both 2019 and this past year.

The 10-year pro finished with career lows in catches (23), receiving yards (331), and touchdown grabs (3). He could be a very positive influence on a fairly young wide receiver corps and make life easier for young quarterback Justin Fields.
