3. DK Metcalf is coming off of surgery

In February, Metcalf had surgery on the foot to remove a screw from a previous surgery and is still reportedly recovering from the procedure.

Metcalf is holding out not only for a new contract but is holding out for his overall health and future aspirations.

Metcalf was a participant in early OTA’s with the team but since minicamp is the more active of the early season programs a hold out makes sense.

This is logical when injury concerns are combined with the idea of taking a stance to show displeasure with a current contract situation.

Metcalf’s absence should make Seattle fans nervous because this is time he should be spending with his new quarterbacks getting ready for the upcoming season however he is showing that he wants to stay put in the Pacific Northwest by requesting an extension, not a trade.

In the end it makes sense for Metcalf to hold out as he is woefully underpaid being a top 12 wide receiver, is now projected to have a quarterback with low upside for at least one more season, and his production demands a sizeable extension once his health is back to where it needs to be.

You may not like it but DK Metcalf holding out makes perfect sense.
