Chicago Bears player no. 1: Justin Fields, Quarterback

As it’s usually the case, the success of a team comes down to the quarterback. In this case, the success of the Chicago Bears’ rebuild really comes down to how well Justin Fields develops.

The Bears have spent nearly their entire existence trying to find a franchise quarterback. Many good rosters went unfulfilled because of the quarterback play.

The Bears felt they finally found their man when they drafted Justin Fields. He has all the tools — he has a good accurate arm, he can run, and he is a great leader.

Fields’ first season wasn’t what many expected. He ended up caught between Nagy not wanting to use him and everyone else in the world wanting to see him play.

What ended up happening was that Nagy put him in but kept using the same game plan he had for Andy Dalton and Nick Foles, two completely different players from Fields.

Fields ended up struggling to find open receivers in time and got crushed time after time with bad offensive line play. He tried to do too much at times, and that resulted in too many fumbles and turnovers.

The Bears hope this season is different. Despite still not having the proper weapons and protection around him, Getsy is forming an offense that will utilize Fields’ talents.

There will be more rollouts so he can buy some time and more slants so he can get rid of the ball quickly additionally, he’ll call more designed running plays for Fields.

Fields might not have a Pro Bowl season in 2022, but he still has a lot that he could show. If he does show that he has the tools to help the Bears win, he’ll be rewarded with a much better roster in 2023 and the team’s rebuild will finally be successful. As they say, success comes down to the quarterback.
