3 tackles the Green Bay Packers could still pursue
Green Bay Packers option no. 1: Eric Fisher (Indianapolis Colts)
The last time the NFL draft saw an offensive lineman selected first overall was nearly a decade ago. In 2013, the Kansas City Chiefs made Eric Fisher of Central Michigan.
That was also head coach Andy Reid’s first season with the organization. And it wasn’t really a huge surprise considering the latter’s background when it came to offensive linemen.
Fisher spent eight years in Kansas City and the team was in the postseason all but one of those seasons. He earned a pair of Pro Bowl invitations and was part of a Super Bowl title team in 2019.
He was in the midst of a solid 2020. But he suffered an Achilles injury in the AFC title game and missed Super Bowl LV. The 6’7”, 315-pound performer was released the following offseason but would eventually find a home.
This past year, Fisher would wind up playing and starting 15 games for Frank Reich’s Indianapolis Colts. He’s currently Pro Football Focus’ 46th-ranked offensive tackle and grades out higher as a run blocker (73.3) than a pass protector (61.0).
More importantly, he remains available and could wind up being an important pickup when it’s all said and done.
