3 Cleveland Browns who could be cut before Week 1

Cleveland Browns potential cut No. 1: Jordan Elliott, DT
The Cleveland Browns defensive tackle position is an interesting one.
General manager Andrew Berry continues to throw darts at the spot but has yet to really find the guy he wants to build around. In 2021, he had veteran Malik Jackson next to reclamation project Malik McDowell.
McDowell played well all season but then got in trouble when he was away from the team and might be out of chances with the NFL. Jackson is also gone as they replaced him with Taven Bryan, a younger option who was a recent Round 1 pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Cleveland also retained Sheldon Day and drafted Perrion Winfrey — who could be a steal considering he was picked up in Round 4. Throw in last year’s fourth-round pick Tommy Togiai and there are a lot of options at defensive tackle, even if no one stands out as the clear-cut best option.
With all that being said, there’s a scenario where Jordan Elliott doesn’t make this team.
A third-round pick out of Missouri in 2020, Elliott has 41 tackles and a half-sack in his first two seasons in the NFL. He’s also recorded just four starts in 32 career games, which means he has yet to distinguish himself as superior to anyone else on the depth chart.
Elliott came in as an SEC product with a lot of upside but could be in danger as he enters year three in the pros.
