Baker Mayfield’s sacrifice has been ignord

In Week 2 of the 2021 NFL season, Mayfield threw an interception against the Houston Texans (irony at its finest) when he attempted to make a tackle after the pick.

Mayfield ended up injuring his shoulder which affected his performance for the rest of the season and resulted in the fiasco the Browns are currently experiencing.

Mayfield may not have finished the 2021 season in the way fans of the “Dog Pound” would like but Mayfield displayed toughness and grit that not all quarterbacks have.

Mayfield made it known that he was experiencing some issues with the injury however he did not use it as a crutch for the down year they experienced.

After a loss to the Packers in the 2021 season where Mayfield threw four interceptions he received death threats online but still wanted to remain as the leader of the Browns and the future of the franchise.

Mayfield only requested a trade once the Browns made it clear they would be searching elsewhere.

"I feel disrespected 100 percent because I was told one thing and they completely did another Baker Mayfield (via “Ya Neva Know Podcast”)"

Besides Mayfield’s accomplishments and his injury were ignored and the front office harped on a reputation for being “immature” as a reason to sign Watson and look to trade Mayfield.

Immaturity seems a lot more manageable than someone facing 20-plus accusations of sexual misconduct, and an overall stain upon the Browns franchise in general.

The fact that they looked to trade him is also enough of a reason for Mayfield to turn back on the franchise that he embraced knowing he was going into a losing culture.
