NFL Draft: Re-drafting the quarterback-loaded 2020 NFL Draft
17. Dallas Cowboys: Derrick Brown, DL, Auburn
Original pick: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
The Dallas Cowboys landed one of the best steals in the 2020 NFL Draft here in real life when they took Oklahoma wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.
As valuable as receivers are today, how did the rest of the league let Lamb fall all the way to this pick?
Madness.
Derrick Brown hasn’t been overly dynamic for the Carolina Panthers but he has the look of a decade-long NFL starter who is going to be consistent for you.
Adding him to the Cowboys’ defense right now which features Micah Parsons could be a lot of fun to watch.
18. Miami Dolphins: Michael Onwenu, OL, Michigan
Original pick: Austin Jackson, OT, USC
The Miami Dolphins wanted to find some support for Tua Tagovailoa with this pick, so they went after talented USC offensive tackle Austin Jackson.
Unfortunately, this pick might have been better spent on a lineman that one of the Dolphins’ division rivals — the New England Patriots — selected on day three.
Michael Onwenu had an incredible rookie year for the Patriots but wasn’t a full-time starter in 2021.
That should change in 2022 but even with that considered, he still would have been a better pick for the Dolphins here given what we know now.
