Another year and another quarterback change. But this offseason, the Indianapolis Colts have done more than just bring in another veteran signal-caller.

On paper, it certainly looks like a solid offseason for a franchise that hasn’t won a division title since 2014. All told, the Indianapolis Colts have made a couple of playoff appearances under current head coach Frank Reich. And they came away with a postseason victory back in 2018 when Andrew Luck was still the team’s starting quarterback.

But the team is coming off a disappointing 9-8 showing that saw the club close the season with a pair of losses and eliminating the Colts from the postseason. The club has made yet another change behind center. And that has, unfortunately, become the norm for this franchise.

Still, general manager Chris Ballard may have wound up with a veteran steal at quarterback. And the Colts added a lot of talent in all aspects. So which of the franchise’s numerous acquisitions this offseason appear to be the team’s top pickups?

Indianapolis Colts’ best pickup no. 3: CB Stephon Gilmore (Carolina Panthers)

The Indianapolis Colts’ secondary features arguably the best slot corner in the league in Kenny Moore II. And the secret is out.

Often referred to as underrated, that moniker took a hit in 2021 when he was named to his first Pro Bowl. He finished the season with four interceptions, 13 passes defended, one sack, and a forced fumble.

This offseason, the Colts added cornerback Stephon Gilmore. The 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year with the Patriots was dealt by New England to Carolina this past season.

The five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro hasn’t played a full season since ’19. But the 10-year pro could be primed for a big year.
