Green Bay Packers: Losing Davante Adams, and not replacing him
The Green Bay Packers were able to fix whatever the heck was wrong with Aaron Rodgers, but that was about the only good thing they did this offseason. Once again, Rodgers is going to have to do a lot on his own as they not only didn’t go out and land a premium offensive talent, they actually subtracted one.
Green Bay sent Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders and while they landed a first-round pick and saved a huge amount of money, they still didn’t add another legit No. 1 wide receiver. What they did was load up on more defensive help by landing two Georgia defenders in Round 1.
Linebacker Quay Walker and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt are both talented and will likely be starters but the Packers waited until Round 2 to land a wide receiver, which is where they took Christian Watson from North Dakota State.
Watson is a gifted player but he played outside of Division I and will be a starter with Allen Lazard and an aged Randall Cobb as the other starters. They do have Sammy Watkins, the greatest Week 1 wide receiver of all time, but he doesn’t do much outside of the first game of the year usually.
All that being said, they’ll probably still win 13 games and make any of us who question any move they make look foolish. It’s what they do.
