Miami Dolphins: Cedrick Wilson signing

To be fair to the Miami Dolphins, this deal didn’t look so bad when it happened. Cedrick Wilson broke out in his fourth season in the NFL as he hauled in 45 receptions for 602 yards and six touchdowns for the Dallas Cowboys.

Wilson took advantage of Michael Gallup being hurt in Dallas and showed what he could do. This led to him agreeing to a three-year $22 million deal with the Dolphins. But not long after that, they traded the kitchen sink for Tyreek Hill and gave him the richest wide receiver contract in history.

Now, they have Hill as well as Jaylen Waddle and tight end Mike Gesicki who will all command a lot of targets — and they don’t exactly have a quarterback known for lighting up the stat sheet at the NFL level. That leaves Wilson fourth on the totem pole, which could lead to him failing to live up to expectations — at no fault of his own.

No one expected Hill to be available, as this deal happened in a hurry. It seemed that news broke that there were problems with Hill and the Chiefs in contract talks and then within minutes, he was headed for South Beach.

That’s why they shouldn’t be crushed for the move, but it doesn’t look great now.
