Baltimore Ravens: Weakening the receiving corps to maybe NFL’s worst

It’s really hard to beat up on anything the Baltimore Ravens did this offseason. As is often the case, they were smart and collected in their moves. They also had a plan that was easy to see.

Baltimore wanted to improve their offensive line after a year full of injuries to key players. They did this by adding Morgan Moses at offensive tackle and Tyler Linderbaum at center. They also added an explosive safety in Kyle Hamilton and picked up David Ojabo who was a risk due to a torn Achilles, but has an insanely high ceiling as a pass rusher.

Having said that, they did thin out their receiving corps quite a bit. Don’t get that wrong, they were able to snag a first-round pick for Marquise Brown which was a great move but with him and Sammy Watkins leaving, the cupboard is thin at wideout.

The Ravens will be placing a lot on the shoulders of second-year player Rashod Bateman. And while he will surely be up to the task, no one stands out as a No. 2 receiver, let alone a No. 3.

If there is good news for Baltimore, it’s how much they get from tight end Mark Andrews, who is really their top target. With him and Bateman, they should be fine but even one injury there could severely hurt their chances.
