Tennessee Titans: Not going after more receivers

Heading into the 2021 season, the Tennessee Titans had one of the more dominant receiving corps on paper. A.J. Brown was an up-and-coming superstar and he was being paired with Julio Jones.

While Brown lived up to the hype, Jones struggled to stay healthy and was released after the season. They also decided they didn’t want to pay Brown big money as he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles for a first-round pick.

In his place, the Titans will feature Treylon Burks from Arkansas, who they took in Round 1. Burks is similar to Brown in that he’s a big-bodied wideout who can put up a ton of yards after the catch — but he also has never proven he can do it in the NFL.

Outside of Burks, their only other addition to speak of was Robert Woods, who spent the past five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams. Woods twice hit the 1,000-yard mark for the Rams and is a severely underrated talent — but he’s also not really a No. 1 target.

With that being the case, Tennessee could have added more talent but they seem to be set with the players they have. In the end, that could prove to be costly since they don’t have a lot of proven explosion in the receiving corps this year.
