2022 NFL: Worst offseason move for each of the 32 teams

Chicago Bears: Inattention to (NFL’s worst?) offense
It felt all season as though Matt Nagy had one foot out the door and as we head into 2022, the Chicago Bears do have a new head coach. But they went in a direction that hardly anyone expected when they hired former Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus.
A well-respected coach, Eberflus makes sense as a head coach but it seemed as though the Bears could have gone after someone with an offensive background to try and get the most out of Justin Fields.
Even with Fields needing to be properly developed, the hiring of Eberflus alone wasn’t a major problem, it was just one of many things that stood out about the Bears offseason that shows they’re not trending in the right direction.
Chicago lost their No. 1 wide receiver in Allen Robinson and didn’t do much at all to replace him. In fact, their No. 1 receiver entering minicamps will be either Darnell Mooney or Equanimeous St. Brown. That’s not an ideal way to help a second-year quarterback.
It wasn’t only in NFL free agency either where the Bears opted to avoid fixing the offense. Their first two picks went to the defensive side of the ball as they tried to improve their secondary. The only wideout they ended up drafting was Velus Jones, who isn’t going to be a starter anytime soon.
Overall, it was a poor offseason when it comes to their offense which could really hurt Fields’ growth as a player.
