Best NFL Supplemental Draft pick of all time: Cris Carter, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

player. 60. Pick Analysis. Ohio State. 1. Scouting Report. WR. Cris Carter

There is no question that the best NFL Supplemental Draft selection of all time was made in the fourth round of the somewhat legendary 1987 class.

Cris Carter, a wide receiver out of Ohio State, was actually the third out of three high-profile players selected in that particular class, joining pass rusher Brian Bosworth of Oklahoma and Miami defensive lineman Dan Sileo.

Carter was picked by the Philadelphia Eagles where he caught a pair of touchdowns in his rookie season.

He would go on to play just three seasons with the Eagles, catching 11 touchdown passes in 1989, before joining the Minnesota Vikings in 1990.

Carter was a solid player for the Vikings from 1990-92 before having a true breakout in the 1993 season at the age of 28.

Carter’s breakout, Pro Bowl campaign in 1993 included over 1,000 yards receiving and nine touchdowns. That season would serve as a launching off point for Carter’s Hall of Fame career and the dominance we saw from him throughout the 1990s.

From 1993-2000, Carter was selected to eight straight Pro Bowls and two All-Pro teams.

He was elected to the NFL Hall of Fame in the class of 2013 and is one of the best receivers in NFL history.

During his dominance in the 1990s, it seemed like there was not a pass thrown in his direction that Carter could not catch.

The Vikings became one of the most exciting offenses in the entire NFL when Randy Moss joined Carter in the 1998 NFL Draft and those two terrorized NFL defenses together.
