Chicago Bears 2023 mock draft, Round 3, 72nd overall: Cedric Tillman, WR, Tennessee

Finally, a tall, big-play ability wide receiver. And one that Velus Jones Jr knows very well. The ever so young Cedric Tillman.

In the wide-zone scheme, what matters most is running the football while also depending on your wide receivers to make plays whenever the ball is in their hands. That, and production.

In the case of Tillman, production has been his forte whenever he sets foot on the field. Coming out of Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas, Tillman started slowly at Tennessee, not becoming a starter until 2021.

Once inserted, Tillman recorded 64 receptions for 1,081 yards and 12 touchdowns. In other words, when he gets the ball in his hands, he is a threat to make a play.

The Bears need playmakers on the outside, and they will not go hog wild in free agency and Trade for players unless they are sure the move will pay off.

That was one of the major faults of Ryan Pace, and Ryan Poles is trying to ensure that while the initials are the same, the methodology is different.

This move would fall right into how Poles wants to build his team through the draft.
