Colin Kaepernick received an opportunity to work out for the Las Vegas Raiders however he did not receive a contract at the conclusion of the workout. We may know why.

There was a significant amount of speculation surrounding the Colin Kaepernick tryout with the Las Vegas Raiders.

News outlets reported Kaepernick did not receive a contract possibly due to declining play ability, his media presence, or perhaps the Raiders were still negotiating terms.

This past week NFL veteran defensive lineman (and former Oakland Raider) Warren Sapp revealed some inside information on Vlad TV regarding Kaepernick’s workout.

"I heard it was a disaster. I heard one of the worst workouts ever. I’m wondering how the hell this happened, and the tape didn’t get out, right? I mean, somebody wasn’t over the fence or nothing? Come on, man.Warren Sapp"

This is a groundbreaking revelation, to say the least. There were many theories tossed about regarding the workout but one of the common themes was that Colin Kaepernick had been out of the league for several years and it may have caught up with him.

It would not be far-fetched for Sapp to have inside connections within the Raiders organization given his experience and overall success within the NFL.

Sapp makes an interesting point regarding the media and the workout. In 2019 the NFL provided a very public opportunity for Kaepernick to work out and showcase his talents to any interested teams.

Kaepernick did not show up at the league-designated tryout because the media was going to be shut out of the training facility in Georgia where the event was to be held.

The league stated they allowed Kaepernick to bring in his own video crew and receivers but Kaepernick insisted that he have “transparency with what went on.”

So if media was so important for that tryout, why is there none available for this workout? During Kaepernick’s exhibition at a University of Michigan game, he performed in front of thousands and media was everywhere.

Sapp’s comments do lead even the most adamant Kaepernick fan to ask some questions.

It is a possibility the workout did not go as planned and Kaepernick and his camp did not want any of the errant footage to be released.

Las Vegas Raiders Head Coach Josh McDaniels was fairly quiet about the workout only reporting to the media that Kaepernick is “not the first player that we’ve looked at and not the last one.”

In the same manner that Sapp obtained his information if word of mouth has traveled across the league about the poor workout, Kaepernick’s chances in the NFL have declined significantly. It is becoming less likely that we will ever see #7 take the field again.
