Best landing spots for the best leftover NFL free agents

There are still some NFL free agents who can fill a need on some teams as full-time starters — somebody should sign them.

We are less than 80 days away from the start of the NFL season. Teams are gearing up for camp without any thoughts on free agency (unless Baker Mayfield gets released). Why would they?

This is that time of year when coaches, fans, and NFL media are readying to get their first look at the teams as a whole.

As we take a look forward, some teams may want to reconsider dipping into the free-agent pool.

There are some holes on some teams that can be filled with the leftover free agents. I’m not talking about the undrafted rookies or players who sat the bench last season.

No, there are some quality starters. Whether it’s at wide receiver, offensive line, or on defense. It doesn’t matter if your team is a contender or a team looking for a playmaker.

Odell Beckham won’t make this list because he’s not ready to help a team until the playoffs. He should re-sign with the Rams though. Fear not, there are plenty of players left on the market who can start week one.

Best NFL Free Agents left: Kansas City Chiefs should sign DT Ndamukong Suh

Ndamukong Suh only signs with contenders and the Chiefs need to figure out a way to get better at rushing the quarterback.

After all, they’ll play Russel Wilson, Derek Carr, and Justin Herbert twice a year. Having a player who can push the pocket from the inside would benefit them greatly. Suh is perfect for a team desperate for an interior pass rusher.

Over the last few seasons, he’s also played on the edge in a 3-4 defense with the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Admittedly, he isn’t the same All-Pro tackle. However, he can still split gaps and win with a good first step and savviness. He’ll be the second best pass rusher on the Chiefs roster.

Last season he finished with six sacks for the second year in a row as a Buccaneer. Suh will fit right into the Chiefs defense, which has Frank Clark and rookie George Karlaftis as their edge rushers.

However, Suh will be helping interior defensive lineman Chris Jones the same way he did for Aaron Donald.

Jones, like Donald, is the best pass rusher on the team. The Pro Bowl tackle had 26.5 sacks over the last three seasons as a pure defensive tackle.

Suh coming in would give them a much-needed boost in a division with elite quarterback play.
