NFL Free Agents: Pittsburgh Steelers should sign OT Duane Brown

Kenny Pickett is an NFL-ready rookie quarterback on a team with really good to great weapons. The offense will run through the versatile back Najee Harris.

At wide receiver, he’ll throw the ball to the confident 6-4 240-pound Chase Claypool. Diontae Johnson may be the best wideout on the team, who does his best work after the catch. And they also drafted the lanky, athletic, 6-3 Georgia wideout George Pickens.

Talk about stacked.

If Pickett wins the job, or even if Mitch Trubisky starts, they have everything they need to succeed except help on the offensive line.

Last season, the Steelers line ranked 26th on PFF’s rankings. Ben Roethlisberger got rocked, but he got the ball out in 2.20 seconds which masked how bad the pass protection was.

On the ground, they couldn’t buy Harris any room to run, so he was left making things happen on his own. Adding former Seahawks offensive tackle Duane Brown would help.

No, he’s not the same guy he was, but he’s better than the current left tackle Dan Moore, who allowed seven sacks and graded out as one of the worst left tackles in the league.

To put things in perspective, Brown’s overall PFF rating was 72 by the end of the year, Moore’s was 54.7.
