NFL Free Agents: Indianapolis Colts should sign WR Julio Jones

Reunited, and it feels so good. Matt Ryan is in a new place, a new system. How about getting him a familiar target?

Julio Jones and Matt Ryan made history as a duo with the Atlanta Falcons. Sure, Jones’ production slipped, and he hasn’t been healthy. With that said, he has No. 2 potential in terms of what he can do after the catch.

He’ll man the boundary, and he can help the young guys develop. However, the last time these two played together, Jones totaled 771-yards in just nine games. The last time Jones played 15-games, he caught 99 passes for over 1,300 yards. He will fit in perfectly with the Colts.

The Colts offense revolves around Jonathan Taylor, and Jones is contributing factor as a blocker in the run game. He still has a great catch radius and may benefit from playing in a familiar offense.

Michael Pitman needs a guy who can take the pressure off him. They drafted Alec Pierce, a big wideout with 4.4 speed and a 40-inch vertical.

Imagine what he can be if Jones is in camp with him. Jones will give the wide receiving core a boost in terms of veteran leadership they currently don’t have. This would be a solid pickup for the Colts.
