Looking at the top training camp battles for the 2022 Carolina Panthers, who now have a fascinating QB battle on their hands.

Is there anything more exciting than following training camp battles during the summer? The Carolina Panthers are a team that is filled with questions and few answers.

The hope is that training camp will answer some of these.

While stars such as D.J. Moore and Brian Burns have little to fight for in terms of roster security and starting position, there are many spots on the team up for grabs. Let’s jump into the top battles for the 2022 training camp Carolina Panthers.

Carolina Panthers training camp battle no. 4: Tight End

The tight end position is one that has evolved over time and includes many of today’s top superstars like George Kittle, Travis Kelce, and Mark Andrews.

While the Panthers may not have a top-five kind of tight end on their roster, the team has a duo that will be duking it out for tops in 2022.

Second-year man Tommy Tremble will be battling against veteran Ian Thomas for depth chart positioning and snaps.

In 2021, Tommy Tremble was in on 45.34 percent of the offensive snaps and Ian Thomas was in on 61.18 percent of the offensive snaps according to Pro Football Reference.

This is to be expected since 2021 was Tremble’s rookie season and Ian Thomas was the vet. Thomas received a nice payday in the offseason and is a more experienced player.

Tremble is younger and provides more upside. These two will be battling it out for the starting snaps. It may come down to whoever can create some chemistry with the starting QB.

Matt Rhule has two solid options and will be eager to see which tight end comes out on top.
