New York Giants potential cut No. 2: Oshane Ximines, EDGE

When the New York Giants traded Odell Beckham, Jr. to the Cleveland Browns, they ended up with safety Jabrill Peppers as well as a first and third-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. With their pick in Round 1, they took Clemson nose tackle Dexter Lawrence.

As for their Round 3 pick, that wound up being the 95th selection overall, which they used to bring in Oshane Ximines from Old Dominion. The 6-foot-4, 254-pounder was full of talent but needed to prove he could perform against elite talent.

As a rookie, he did very well, recording 25 tackles and 4.5 sacks in a reserve role. He did well enough to earn a starting job in his second season but was placed on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury after just four games.

He returned in 2021 but hardly saw the field. He ended up with just 13 tackles on the season and no sacks.

Looking ahead to the 2022 season, the Giants added rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux in Round 1 who will start across from Azeez Ojulari. For Ximines, he’s fallen pretty far down the depth chart and since this regime has no ties to his draft status, he could be on the chopping block.
