Possible NFL Draft bust no. 3: Jeff Okudah, CB, Detroit Lions

50. Scouting Report. Lions. Jeff Okudah. Pick Analysis. CB. 3. player

  • 2020 NFL Draft
  • 1st round (3rd overall)
  • 10 games
  • 51 total tackles
  • 1 interception

Through two NFL seasons, injuries have unfortunately led Jeff Okudah to this particular crossroads.

The Detroit Lions felt they had one of the “surest” things in the 2020 NFL Draft when they took Okudah, but they’re probably kicking themselves now seeing what Justin Herbert — the 6th overall pick in 2020 — has done with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Either way, this is a ship the Detroit Lions will go down with.

Whether or not Okudah can prove his lofty draft status in 2022 remains to be seen, but it sounds like heading into training camp, he will be full steam ahead.

The Detroit Lions could be one of the top surprise teams in the NFL this season and Okudah could be a huge reason why.

Watching him at Ohio State back in 2019 was an absolute treat. Hopefully, we can get the same type of play consistently in the NFL from Okudah.

Unfortunately, if he’s limited again in 2022, that bust label — fair or not — will begin to creep up on him.
