NFL Tight End No.4: George Kittle, San Francisco 49ers

Pick Analysis. San Francisco 49ers. 42. George Kittle. 4. player. Scouting Report. TE

Uncertainty at the quarterback position has caused fans to wonder how successful the 49ers will be this season.

Jimmy Garoppolo and Tre Lance are battling to become the starter, while veteran leader George Kittle focuses on improving from last season.

Since joining San Francisco in 2017, Kittle has accumulated over 4,000 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns.

His ability to gain yards after the catch has earned him the right to be claimed as an elite tight end.

Finishing a season with less than 1,000 yards is not the norm for the 49ers’ hard-working tight-end. Injuries during the past two seasons have affected his ability to perform on the field.

In 2019, the former Iowa Hawkeyes finished the season with 1,053 yards receiving – 163 yards short of his total last season.

Despite the shortage in yardage, Kittle has demonstrated that he has a skill set for finding the endzone. Six touchdown receptions in 2021 set a new career high for the sixth-year veteran.
