NFL RB no. 2: Saquon Barkley, New York Giants

In 13 games last season, Saquon Barkley failed to rekindle the magic we saw in his first two seasons. He averaged under four yards per carry.

Despite his breakaway speed and power, Barkey reached the end zone just two times. Barkley has a lot to prove, and the Giants have the best offensive front they’ve had in a while.

We expect new head coach Brian Daboll and his OC Mike Kafka to take the Giants to new heights. In order to do that, they’ll rely on the running game.

Daniel Jones has a good athlete with the speed to run RPOs. And given the archaic paly calling of years past, Barkley should see more wide-open lanes. The lanes will open up, unlike years past, thanks to the offensive line.

Andrew Thomas and Evan Neal are two nasty bookend tackles. And both men are excellent run blockers. With an RPO offense, we’ll get to see Barkley at his best. He’s been training and has a chip on his shoulder.

Plus, this is a contract year for the fifth-year pro. He’s looking to quiet the doubters and show he’s past the injuries and ready to become a focal point of an offense.
