Jimmy Garoppolo is about to get healthy, and a handful of teams could very easily justify making a trade for him with training camp looming.

NFL training camps are on the very near horizon and as teams begin to report, we’re all still wondering the answer to one of the NFL offseason’s biggest questions in 2022:

Where is Jimmy Garoppolo going to play?

It’s not going to be in San Francisco.

Other teams around the league should still want Garoppolo, even after the recent trade that sent former top pick and Heisman winner Baker Mayfield to the Carolina Panthers.

After the Baker Mayfield trade, it seemed like all of Jimmy Garoppolo’s options had dried up, but the more you look around the NFL, the more you realize — teams are unsettled at the QB position.

That’s putting it lightly.

Let’s take a look through a handful of NFL teams that could still make a deal for Jimmy Garoppolo, and in fact, should still make a deal for him regardless of their current situation.

If it takes a higher draft pick to get Garoppolo at a reduced rate, so be it.

Team no. 1 that should still trade for Jimmy Garoppolo: New York Giants

What are the expectations for the Giants in year one of the Joe Schoen/Brian Daboll era?

Coming over from Buffalo, those guys probably want to keep on winning as soon as possible, but they are also not going to be unrealistic.

With Daniel Jones at the helm, the Giants are probably a seven-win team at best this season, even if there’s the possibility to overachieve and win eight games.

Despite the fact that Jimmy Garoppolo is not an MVP-caliber quarterback, his 49ers have been to the NFL’s final four in two of the last three seasons. That’s not nothing.

If the Giants expect to be competitive this season, then adding a player like Garoppolo could be a good idea, even with Tyrod Taylor on board as a fail-safe.
