NFL rookie #2: Travon Walker, EDGE, Jaguars

First overall picks are always going to have fans watching to see how they do. As the first player off the board, they should naturally be one of, if not the top rookies in the class.

This point is amplified when that first player isn’t a quarterback. The Jaguars fall into this camp with Travon Walker now on the team.

Not only is Walker a non-quarterback first overall pick, but many would also argue that he wasn’t even the best pass rusher in the draft. Aidan Hutchinson is far more refined as a player, and while his proverbial ceiling isn’t as high as Walker’s, his floor is quite a bit higher.

These two players will be closely linked together because of this.

Walker will also be under the microscope due to his defensive position. The Jaguars made Trevor Lawrence their top pick a year before, and instead of giving him some more blockers or weapons, they added a pass rusher.

Walker needs to perform well to avoid the bust label. He has a lot riding on his rookie season.
