Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf gets the big bucks

It’s been quite an offseason for wide receivers around the NFL. And Seattle Seahawks standout DK Metcalf is the latest player at the position to cash in.

He was certainly in the conversations this offseason when it came to those trade talk rumors. Seattle Seahawks wideout DK Metcalf has enjoyed a solid start to his career.

And there were concerns by some that the franchise would be unable to return him after this season. The 2019 second-round pick from the University of Mississippi was entering the final year of his rookie contract.

There has been plenty of news regarding the wide receiver position this year. From Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, Amari Cooper and A.J. Brown getting traded to Terry McLaurin re-upping with the Washington Commanders to former Cardinals’ wideout Christian Kirk getting a huge contract from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

But any concerns about the three-year pro eventually moving on were put to rest on Thursday as Metcalf wound up getting

Schefter also reports that Seahawks general manager John Schneider as well as the team’s vice president of football administration, Matt Thomas, finalized the new deal with Metcalf’s agent, Tory Dandy.

It’s a new era in Seattle as the franchise dealt nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos this offseason.

In three seasons, DK Metcalf has played in all 49 of the team’s contests and started all but one of those games. He’s combined for an impressive 216 catches, good for 3,170 yards and 29 scores.

In three postseason outings, all starts, he came up with 16 grabs for 315 yards and three touchdowns. Do the math and that’s 32 trips to the end zone in 52 overall games.

It’s still to be decided just who the Seattle Seahawks’ starting quarterback will be when Pete Carroll’s club host Wilson and the Broncos in the first Monday night game of the season.

Be it Geno Smith or Drew Lock, both now have the luxury of knowing DK Metcalf isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
