Fans of the Washington Commanders need to remember to take everything they hear and see during camp with a grain of salt

We’ve made it to camp. And with it comes a lot of news. Every few hours you’re going to hear something coming from the Washington Commanders. We’ve already seen stories from both sides of the spectrum. Major positives and major negatives.

And everything in-between as well.

With all that, there’s one very important thing to remember. Take it all with a grain of salt.

The perfect example of this are the stories from this week. We had some fun stuff that will get the fans happy but doesn’t really mean anything when it comes to the upcoming season. Such as Ryan Kerrigan signing a one-day contract so he could retire with the franchise.

However, there were some extremes coming from the Commanders as well. One day we saw that the offense looked absolutely dreadful. The defense was dominating all day and we had Carson Wentz struggling to find a rhythm and Sam Howell looked miserable.

Then the very next day the quarterbacks flipped the script. Wentz looked a lot more comfortable and made some great throws. Meanwhile, the rookie Howell looked more like a veteran than anything else.

We’ve somehow heard that Jamin Davis looked great and that he looked so bad that Khaleke Hudson was already threatening his job at the same time. And of course, there’s the rookie hype, with running back Brian Robinson making major waves.

There is a lot to get excited about. And it’s obviously going to happen. We can’t be seeing the performances and hearing all the positives (and negatives) and not react to an extent.

But it’s important to try and keep a level head. Every year it happens. Not just with Washington fans, but with fans everywhere.

It just seems like it’s the Commanders fans that get bitten the worst by it. There are inevitably those players or units that get hyped to oblivion, just for fans to sour on them by Week 4.

So let’s try and remember that. Don’t set the team up for failure. You can see and hear about everything going on, and react properly.

But let’s not mark certain players as the next GOAT or as a failure because of a couple of days at camp. Washington Commanders fans should know by now, it’s not going to do you any good.
