Indianapolis Colts: Ryan Kelly, C

There was a time when Matt Ryan could have made the overrated list. The new quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts had more than his share of success with the Atlanta Falcons but near the end of his tenure with the Dirty Birds, he escaped any and all criticism.

The franchise was a mess and struggled to win — but Ryan was always excused. Other quarterbacks take heat for losses but Atlanta, for whatever reason, didn’t want Ryan to ever face the heat.

Having said that, it’s a fresh start for him and with the Colts, they landed an aged signal-caller who will be a bridge starter. They also paid just a third-round pick and the Falcons got stuck with a chunk of his salary. That’s why he’s no longer considered for this spot.

Instead, it’s center Ryan Kelly who makes the cut. Kelly was the 18th overall pick in 2016 out of Alabama and has been a regular starter since entering the league. He was a huge part of their offensive line rebuild and is coming off his third-straight Pro Bowl selection.

That selection, however, feels like it was made due to name recognition. Kelly has seen a dip in his PFF grade over the past two seasons and finished 32nd among centers according to the analytical site. It was also his lowest grade ever — and he fared poorly in pass and run blocking.

Perhaps he bounces back in 2022 but right now, he’s a player being credited for his past more than recent play.
