Philadelphia Eagles: Fletcher Cox, DT

Fletcher Cox seems to be one of those players who is living off name recognition more than anything at this point. The No. 12 overall pick back in 2012 has had a fantastic career with the Philadelphia Eagles.

He has been named to six Pro Bowl teams as well as earned one nod as a First-Team All-Pro as well as three to the Second-Team. On top of that, he was a huge part of their Super Bowl win following the 2017 season.

However, he’s seen his PFF grade take a nose dive over the past couple of seasons. Following six seasons of ranking in the 80s and 90s, Cox had a 74.1 in 2020 and then just 68.7 this past season. That drop in production might have something to do with the team releasing him ahead of the 2022 season and re-signing him two days later on a one-year deal.

Now heading into the year, Cox counts for $12 million in dead money while still earning another $4 million this year. On top of that, he might not even be the best at his position now as Philly has rookie Jordan Davis as well as Javon Hargrave on the same line.

In the long run, this could help him since he might stay fresh being in a rotation but there’s a lot of money being committed to a player who has been trending in the wrong direction recently.
