Most overrated player on every NFL team in the 2022 season

San Francisco 49ers: Trey Lance, QB
Quarterback controversies are never fun. Teams that have them going on tend to have a lot of drama behind the scenes as loyalties can be tested. It could be even worse for a team such as the San Francisco 49ers who are turning from someone who helped them win a ton of games to a relative unknown.
Jimmy Garoppolo is far from a complete quarterback but he was under center for one Super Bowl appearance and nearly helped the Niners get back last year as well. Even with a 33-14 record in the regular season and 4-2 in the playoffs, San Francisco is ready to replace him with Trey Lance.
It’s hard to blame them since they used the No. 3 overall pick to land the North Dakota State product but it’s also a bit of a leap of faith. As talented as Lance is, he played in just 19 games in college and made six appearances in the NFL. Perhaps this is why rumors are hinting at some players wanting to keep Jimmy G under center.
In the end, the 49ers have to go with Lance. They will simply never know if he’s the guy or not until they try. So, if the coaching staff believes in him, they should roll the dice.
Having said that, there are plenty of expectations that he’s going to be the missing link for this offense. Maybe he will be, but right now it feels like there are some lofty expectations being placed on a player we know very little about.
